At JDR Software, we feel it’s important to contribute to the Higher Education industry in any way we can. We have 2 November 2022 WIL (Work Integrated Learning) participants both studying at Deakin University and spending the next few months with us.

Dylan is studying for a Bachelor of Computer Science. Whilst here, Dylan will assist in testing new features in Allocate Plus. This may involve both automated and manual testing. For our end-to-end or functional testing of new features, this is often done manually on the initial test.

Ultimately, we aim to reduce the time spent manually testing new features. Part of Dylan’s role has been to assist in automating some of the manual tests. Automating our tests saves time and money allowing us to spend more time on feature development to build a better product.

Dylan’s interest in computing started at a very young age, demonstrating a desire to understand how they work. These days, his career aspiration is to work in Software development. As Dylan said,

“One of the great benefits of a degree such as mine is the opportunity to gain experience working in a professional environment where I can apply the skills that I have learnt over the past few years at Deakin”.

Programming and the tools and methods used in computing have always intrigued Ereena. An early adaptor of programming languages, Ereena started young with her fascination in coding leading her to write her first ‘Hello World’ program in C. She hasn’t looked back. Now studying for a Bachelor of Software Engineering, Ereena is continuously learning about new languages and algorithms.

The QA Tester WIL position at JDR Software will allow Ereena to enhance and supplement her learning at Deakin with practical industry-based knowledge.

“I believe it will be a great opportunity for me to be a part of a challenging project, gain exposure to a corporate environment and work closely with JDR’s management. All this while developing exceptional QA testing and problem-solving skills.”
